New Year's Hats
So with halloween basically over, I'm thinking towards hats for holidays and new year's. I have these awesome glittery flowers (for those of us with magpie tendencies). I originally used one in gold for a design for a custom Ascot Ball mini top hat, but I've got the flowers in about six colors now. I thought they'd be great for new years, so I'm thinking of putting a "line" together for my etsy store for that purpose (joeireedhats.etsy.com, if you're interested). What do you think?
Here's the gold one:
And here's a silver one I also did for a burlesque show:

Hi there, first post. if this sort of thing isn't allowed, I'll take it down.
For those of you who are interested in the hats of vintage society, I own a lot of really eccentric hats, a lot of which I make myself.
*wipes sweat off of forehead* I spent all day making this hat (and the pin, too). I'm really proud of it, it's a lot different than my other hats that I've made so far, and I think I'm going to keep making them in this style. What do you guys think? I put a link to my etsy store in the photo in case anyone is interested in buying this or any other hats I make. ( More pictures of me wearing this hat.Collapse )

Caps for Sale
Vintage Hats on Ebay from bixietear!
I currently have some great quality vintage hats up on Ebay. Most of them are pillbox style and without labels. All of them are from my Great Aunt's house...and in an effort to help her pay for her rising medical costs she has allowed me to choose from her collection and get them to new homes. Most of them, she informs me, are from the 40s-50s era...but if any of you could inform me more about them I'd be happy to learn! Her memory has gotten rusty.
The first batch of hats I listed will be over tomorrow, and yesterday I added a whole new batch of vintage hats! Most of them are pillbox style and without labels, their are a few more headbadn style as well.

Hi, I have a very nice vintage hat up for auction on ebay... EBAY
|Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006|
A couple inquiries...
I work at a theatre costume shop, and we occasionally receive donations of vintage items from people-- which is excellent for a vintage clothes and hat lover such as myself. :-)
Unfortunately, while vintage items are beautiful and unique (like many hats we are given), they are frequently unsuitable or too delicate for stage.
Our shop has come-into a small but varied collection of vintage hats and hatboxes which we'd like to sell.
I have a couple of questions, and I was hoping I might be able to get some information reagrding:a) A pricing guide
andb) A suggestion for an online venue to sell the hats
Thank you in advance for anything help! Current Mood: calm

Hi, I just found this community yesterday.
I started a millinery course a few months ago and I've been documenting what we've done. The course is once a week for 8 weeks and we have done 6 classes so far.
I've made 1 felt hat, which is a very art deco style cloche and I am now finishing off making my straw hat which is a "races" hat. I haven't taken any pictures of them yet, but when I do I will post them.
I've been documenting (and tagging) the classes on my blog and if you are interested here is a linkhttp://www.livejournal.com/users/giffydoll/tag/millinery
It's a bit rough, but enjoy!

I bought this houndsooth pill box hat at a long island antique shop this afternoon. I immediatly fell in love with it, wanting to wear it right ten and there. The tag was marked $50, but I talked down to $40. Does anyone have a clue as to whether:
A) i was ripped off
B) when exactly this was from?
